Kitchen renovations in Vilanova i la Geltrú

The kitchen is where a home is won or lost. We do the whole of it — building work, systems, cabinetry, appliances — with a design agreed first, a fixed price and a fitting date that holds.

The wall that changes the most homes here

Half the kitchens we renovate start the same way: a closed three-metre kitchen where two people cannot pass, back-to-back with a living room that never sees it.

That is how half this coast was built. Apartments from the sixties and seventies in Armanyà, Sant Joan or Les Roquetes came with the kitchen as a service room — small, shut and at the back. The project we do most often is the exact opposite: take that wall down and gain a real living-kitchen, with an island or a breakfast bar that becomes the most used square metre of the house.

In old-town buildings the brief changes: high ceilings, the occasional wall that does carry load, and the challenge of fitting a contemporary kitchen into architecture with character. And in the houses of Ribes Roges or Aragai, the kitchen usually wants to open to the garden or terrace: there the project lives in the glazing and the light as much as in the cabinets.

Whatever your case, the method is the same: we measure, design the kitchen with you, fix brand and model of every element, and sign price and date. Then one crew executes it, from demolition to the last handle.

Kitchen design: drawn before anything is touched

A kitchen is designed at the table, not on site. We measure the room, talk about how you cook — who cooks, how many of you there are, what gets stored and where — and draw the layout from there: galley, L-shaped, U-shaped or with an island, the path between sink, hob and fridge, and where the oven and larder columns go.

Then come the materials, which you choose by seeing and touching them: fronts, handles, a quartz, porcelain or timber worktop, and lighting on three levels — general, task light over the worktop and ambient. When the kitchen is the centre of the whole home, we design it alongside the interior design, so that living room and kitchen speak the same language.

What your kitchen renovation includes

  • Design and layout. The working triangle between hob, sink and fridge properly resolved, storage up to the ceiling and sockets where you will actually use them. It is all on paper before demolition starts.
  • The complete build. Demolition, new plumbing and wiring in the kitchen area, wall tiling or cladding, flooring, and a false ceiling with lighting planned on three levels.
  • Units and worktop. Schmidt kitchens or made-to-measure joinery, with quartz, porcelain or natural stone worktops, chosen in the design stage from real samples, not a photo.
  • Appliances. We work with Miele and Pando, built into the design from the first drawing: the extractor you can’t hear, the oven at eye level, the fridge that doesn’t break the line.
  • Fitting and finishing. The crew that did the building work fits and finishes the kitchen. No cabinet-maker blaming the builder: the person responsible is always the same one, us.

Send us your kitchen's measurements — or don't: we'll come and take them. Then you get a design with numbers.

One detail specific to kitchens: home renovations usually carry the reduced 10% VAT, but only while materials stay under 40% of the taxable base. Units and appliances often take a kitchen past that line, and then the standard 21% applies. We work it out for your case and show it in the quote, so there is no surprise on the invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Can my kitchen be opened to the living room?

In most local apartments, yes: the dividing wall is rarely load-bearing. We confirm it on the first visit, and if it does turn out to be structural, a steel beam can still open it up. What changes is the budget, and you will know before signing, not after.

How long will I be without a kitchen?

The build takes 3 to 5 weeks. Cabinet fabrication (4–6 weeks) runs in parallel while we prepare the site, so the waiting doesn’t happen with your kitchen already stripped out. We leave you a temporary water point and sockets during the works.

Which brands do you work with?

We fit Schmidt kitchens and work with Miele and Pando appliances, plus our own made-to-measure joinery when the project calls for it. Every item is specified in the quote by brand and model: the word “similar” does not appear in our paperwork.

What does a kitchen renovation cost here?

Between €13,000 and €21,000 before VAT for a complete 9–10 m² kitchen, depending on finishes. The spread is wide because units, worktop and appliances make up more than half the total. Your firm quote is itemised after a visit.

Is a kitchen charged at 10% or 21% VAT?

It depends on how much of the budget is materials. The reduced 10% applies to homes over two years old in private use, provided materials stay below 40% of the taxable base. In many kitchens the units, worktop and appliances go past that line, and then it is 21%. We work it out for your case and show it in the quote.
